Central Coast Leagues Summer Blitz 2002 - Single Round Robin; 7 rounds
Aahh time pressure ! Our president was about to push a pawn to promotion and a win
in round 1 - until he restricted a little too much and voila - stalemate ! Round 2
was much better - after John Curtis tried some quick sacs which were absorbed and
a winning game followed - until time panic that is, not so much panic as one blunder
followed another as the stress built. A third game in round 4 was also thrown away.
Such is blitz. Just in case you think I am talking up the
presidents' results - there were at least 3 losses that were thoroughly deserved.
Newcomer to us Justin had a hard start - the number 1 & 2 players, but after that showed a clean pair of heels. Frank yet again showed his class and Allen showed his continuing improvement in the fast lane. Armando is always dangerous on a chessboard and this tournament was no different.
Time Limit : 5 minutes flat.
